Applied Learning Chinese (for non-Chinese speaking students) - Practical Chinese aims to equip non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students with foundation of using Chinese regarding listening, speaking, reading, and writing through different workplace scenarios. It is accepted as DSE Chinese Language qualification, so as to prepare them for further studies and career pursuits. Secondary school teachers, non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students and their parents are welcome to register and participate.

    Venue: HKCT Mong Kok East Campus (14 Princess Margaret Road, Ho Man Tin, Kowloon, Map)

★ Pre-registration is required. Please submit the registration form on or before October 13. The confirmation with detailed arrangements will be sent out via SMS 2 days before the event date.

Content:

  1. Highlight of the course content
  2. Master practical oral communication and conversation skills, e.g. expressing requests and opinions:
    - Demonstrate through video and role play
    - Simulate everyday life scenarios, including ordering at a restaurant, inquiring about travel packages, and purchasing daily necessities
  3. Master fundamental reading and writing skills: 
    - Practice together using textual examples 
    - Familiarise with Chinese phrases, sentence writing, and identifying mistakes 
  4. Q&A session

 

Content:

  1. Introduction of rundown 
  2. Learn practical Chinese phrases and sentences, verbal communication and writing skills through interactive activities in group activities: 
    - Warm-up activity: matching Chinese words and phrases
    - Role play: creating and interpreting storylines based on specific themes
    - Story outline: constructing the above storylines in written form
    - Guided appreciation by instructor
