Q:
 
What are the qualifications of the teachers of HKCT? 

 
  A: Most teachers have obtained Master Degree or above with sufficient experience in particular industries. Some of them are professionals like Registered Social Worker (RSW) and Certified Public Accountant (CPA).

Q: What are the distinctive programmes of HKCT?
 
  A: HKCT has provided various distinctive programs which have unique characteristics and strengths.

Higher Diploma in Professional Accounting:
The program acquires professional examination papers exemptions from professional accounting bodies including The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Hong Kong Institute of Accredited Accounting Technicians (HKIAAT), The Association of International Accountants (AIA) and The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and is one of the sub degree accounting programs in Hong Kong with the largest number of paper exemptions. It can equip students with skills and qualifications to pursue careers as the professional accountants.

Graduates are also eligible to be the Associate of Hong Kong Institute of Community Mediation Limited. Alternatively, they can also articulate to the Top-up Degree programs offered by local or overseas universities.

Higher Diploma in Tourism Management (Airline and Cruise Services)/ (Hospitality)/ (Travel and Tourism):

The Higher Diplomas are designed to provide professional training with strong theoretical and practical components in the programs. Simulation Trainings in “Mock-up Hotel Room and Concierge”, “Mock-up Cabin and Airport Service Desk” and “Food and Beverage Training Centre” are provided. The program also provides at least 600 hours of internship for students’ professional training and the preparation of their future studies.

Yi Jin Diploma
HKCT provides 28 elective clusters including the “Disciplined Services” which was taught by famous teachers and retired Superintendent of Police for students in the new academic year.

Q:

Would it influence my applications of HKCT programs, if I study different subjects in HKDSE?
 
  A: No, except for the Higher Diploma in Social Work. The program requires at least Level 2 in Liberal Studies in addition to basic entry requirements, while the basic requirement of the Higher Diploma programs is the successful completion of Secondary 6 (Level 2 in 5 HKDSE subjects including Chinese Language and English Language) and passing the admission interviews. You can enroll in any program by taking your interest into account.
 
 
2. Q: How long is the duration of study of the UK (Honours) Degree?  
  
  A: The duration of study is 3 years. If you study the UK (Honours) Degree in Hong Kong, the accommodation fee and other expenses can be saved. It is the quickest way to obtain a degree.
 
 
3.  Q:
If I fail in English Language or Mathematics in HKDSE, can I study the UK (Honours) Degree? 
 
  A: The entry requirement of UK (Honour) Degree is to achieve Level 3 in 5 HKDSE subjects including English Language. Some subjects require Level 3 in Mathematics. (If you do not fulfil the entry requirement of the UK (Honours) Degree, you can study the one-year International Foundation Diploma which can articulate to the UK (Honours) Degrees.)

If I fail in English Language or Mathematics in HKDSE, can I study the Higher Diploma Programs? 
 
  A: The entry requirement of Higher Diploma is to achieve Level 2 in 5 HKDSE subjects including Chinese Language and English Language. If you do not fulfil the entry requirements, you can study one-year Diploma for Tertiary Studies or Yi Jin Diploma to articulate to Higher Diplomas.

 
5. Q:
If I do not achieve level 2 in 5 HKDSE subjects, what kind of programs can I choose? 
  
  A: You can study the one-year Diploma for Tertiary Studies or Yi Jin Diploma to articulate Higher Diploma Programs. 

      
6. Q:
What are the differences between Yi Jin Diploma and Diploma of Tertiary Studies?
 
  A:
HKCT has provided Yi Jin Diploma and Diploma for Tertiary Studies for students who have completed Secondary 6 with any results in HKDSE. After graduating from Yi Jin Diploma, you can receive a qualification which is deemed comparable to the attainment of Level 2 standard in five subjects including Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSE.

Diploma for Tertiary Studies is recognized as the level 3 qualification under the Qualifications Framework. After completion of the program, students are eligible to apply for Level 4 programs under the Qualifications Framework. The graduates of both diplomas are eligible to enroll in Higher Diploma.

The medium of instruction of Yi Jin Diploma is Chinese. Moreover, students can choose from a list of 28 elective clusters.  The medium of instruction of Diploma for Tertiary Studies are in Chinese and English. The teaching hours of "English Language" are longer and the content is more comprehensive than Yi Jin Diploma's. It can efficiently strengthen the foundation of students' language proficiency and prepare for the studies of sub-degree programs in future.

If you plan to study Higher Diploma or Degree Program in the future, you are recommended to study Diploma for Tertiary Studies.Moreover, Diploma for Tertiary Studies is recognized as the level 3 qualification under the Qualification Framework. After completion of the program, you are eligible to enroll the level 4 programs under the Qualifications Framework. The admission to this program, however, does not automatically qualify students for any program' s articulation.
  
 
7. Q:
What are the differences among the 28 elective modules in Yi Jin Diploma? If I study design in Yi Jin Diploma, can I enroll to HKCT' s Higher Diploma in Business Discipline when I find my interest in business later? 
 
  A:

The elective clusters of Yi Jin Diploma will provide basic knowledge of different industries. Students can select the clusters with reference to their interest. It is definitely possible if you want to study the higher diploma in other disciplines.

After completion of Yi Jin Diploma, you can receive a qualification which is deemed comparable to the attainment of Level 2 standard in five subjects including Chinese Language and English Language in HKDSE which is the entry requirement of the sub-degree programs. Therefore, you can study the higher diploma in other disciplines when you pass the admission interview.

 

8. Q:
Will the programs be taught in Chinese or English?
 
  A: Higher Diploma and Diploma for Tertiary Studies will be taught in both Chinese and English with reference to the requirement of individual academic discipline. Yi Jin Diploma will be taught in Chinese. 

 
9. Q: Will HKCT provide placement or internship for students?  
 
 

A:

Yes. Most programs will arrange placement or internship for students. Students of Higher Diploma in Tourism Management are required to complete at least 600 hours of internship to enhance their professional knowledge and working experiences. Summer internship will be arranged for Higher Diploma students in Business Administration and Accounting to enhance students' competitive advantages.

Can I articulate to university degree after graduating from the Higher Diploma of HKCT?
 

  A:
 
Yes. Apart from full time employments, graduates of Higher Diploma programs can also apply for the Top-up Degree programs offered by overseas universities in collaboration with HKCT or the Degree programs at local or overseas universities

 
2. Q:
Will other institutions recognize the Higher Diploma of HKCT?
 
  A: Since the Higher Diploma of HKCT is recognized under the Qualifications Framework. Therefore, other institutions will recognize its qualification as well.

 
3. Q:
Will the HKCT's UK Degree be recognized?
 
  A:
The programs have been registered under The Non-local Higher and Professional Education (Regulation) Ordinance (Cap. 493) by the Education Bureau and regulated by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) from Britain. If graduates want to pursue their careers in civic service, they can apply for Qualification Assessment from the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications (HKCAAVQ).

Q:

After completion of Yi Jin Diploma and Diploma of Tertiary Studies, can I promote to other studies offered at local institutions?
 
  A:
Yes. The qualification of Yi Jin Diploma is comparable to the attainment of Level 2 standard in 5 HKDSE subjects including Chinese Language and English Language. The qualification of the Diploma for Tertiary Studies can be reached at the Qualifications Framework Level 3. After successful completion of YJD and DTS, students are eligible to apply for sub-degree programs under the Qualifications Framework Level 4.

 
2. Q:
What is the admission arrangement after the completion of Yi Jin Diploma (YJD) and Diploma of Tertiary Studies (DTS) and Professional Diploma (Professional Dip)?
 
  A: All graduates of YJD, DTS and Professional Dip are eligible to apply for the Higher Diploma programs of HKCT. They can submit the applications to HKCT before application deadline.

 
3. Q:
After completion of Higher Diploma, can I articulate to the degree programs?
 
  A: You can apply for the Top-up Degree programs after completion of Higher Diploma programs.

 
4. Q:
After completion of Yi Jin Diploma and Diploma of Tertiary Studies, what kind of programs can I study?
 
  A: After successful completion of YJD and DTS, they are eligible to apply for sub-degree programs under the Qualifications Framework Level 4.

 
5. Q:
Does HKCT provide Top-up Degree programs with other overseas institutions?
 
 

A:

Yes. HKCT' s partner universities include University of Central Lancashire, Leeds Metropolitan University etc.

Q:

When is the application deadline?
 
  A: The application deadline for Higher Diplomas and Diploma for Tertiary Studies will be on 31 August, 2013. Students can submit the application via HKCT Online Enrolment System at  or by visiting the HKCT Jockey Club Ma On Shan Campus or Homantin Campus. Applicants of Full-time Yi Jin Diploma in the first phase of enrollment can settle their admission fee via www.yjd.edu.hk  starting from 4 May 2013 to 16:00 on 16 July 2013. From 17 July 2013 onwards, they should directly submit their applications at the campuses of Hong Kong College of Technology.

Who are suitable to apply for the the post-secondary programs of HKCT?

i.  Secondary school leavers;
ii.  HKCT students (Including Higher Diploma, Yi Jin Diploma, Diploma for Tertiary Studies and Professional Diploma, etc)

How can I apply for the programs? 
 
  A:
ii.  Electronic Advance Application System for Post-secondary Programmes (E-APP) of Education Bureau;
iii. Directly submitting the application form and all related documents to the general office of one of the HKCT campuses;
iv. Mail the application form and all related documents to HKCT 
 
 
4. Q: What should I bring for the admission interview?
 
  A:
Applicants should bring the following documents for admission interview including
.Original and Photo copy of Hong Kong Identity Card;
.Original and Photo copies of all academic certificates;
.Original and Photo copies of school report of the latest academic year;
.Original and a copy of Student Learning Profile (for NSS graduates only);
.And 1 recent photo 
 

 
5. Q:
If I submit my application now, when can I know the application result? Will the admission result be announced immediately after applications submission? 
 
  A:

The admission interviews for HKCT current students and other applicants will commence in April and May respectively. Applicants should bring along with the Original Copies of all academic certificates for verification. All applicants must pass the admission interview.

All admission results would not be released immediately after interview. For any enquiries, applicants can ask the interviewers directly.

Applicants of Full-time Yi Jin Diploma in the first phase of enrollment can settle their admission fee via  www.yjd.edu.hk starting from 4 May 2013 to 16:00 on 16 July 2013.

Applicant should submit their applications on the campuses of Hong Kong College of Technology directly from 17 July 2013 onwards in the second phase of admission.

Q:

How much is the tuition fee? What is the payment method? Will installment payment be allowed?
  
  A: Apart from the "Higher Diploma in Social Work" and the "Higher Diploma in Management of Sports, Fitness and Health", the tuition fee of Year 1 and Year 2 are HK$43,880 and HK$48,280 respectively. The tuition fees are settled into 8 installments. It can be settled by EPS or Crossed Cheque. The tuition fees for 2014/15 academic year will be reviewed and adjusted on the basis of inflation and other factors.
 

The tuition fee of full-time Higher Diploma in Social Work:
Year 1: HK$51,200
Year 2: HK$52,000 (The tuition fees for 2014/15 will be reviewed and adjusted on the basis of inflation and other factors.)
 
Part-time Studies
The tuition fee of part-time Higher Diploma in Social Work:
Year 1: HK$33,000
Year 2: HK$32,800 (The tuition fees for 2014/15 will be reviewed and adjusted on the basis of inflation and other factors.)
Year 3: HK$40,800 (The tuition fees for 2015/16 will be reviewed and adjusted on the basis of inflation and other factors.)
Remark: All tuition fees are subject to the final approval from the Education Bureau.
 

The tuition fee of Yi Jin Diploma is HK$31,400 with two installments. Students can apply for the Extended Non-means-tested Loan Scheme (ENLS) and Student Travel Subsidy (STS). All eligible Yi Jin Diploma students will also receive reimbursement of 30% of the tuition fees with satisfactory completion of theprogramme.
 

Moreover, the English subject under Diploma for Tertiary Studies has been included in the list of reimbursable courses for Continuing Education Fund purposes. Upon completion of the program, graduates can receive reimbursement of 80% of the tuition fees of related subjects.

8. Q:
Do I need to settle the tuitions fee or deposit after enrolment? 
 
  A: After receiving the formal "Offer Letter" from HKCT, applicant may pay the Deposit which is the 1st installment of tuition fee on or before the deadline stipulated in the Offer Letter. 
 
 
9. Q: Can I enroll in any programs before the announcement of HKDSE result?
 
  A: Yes. You need to bring along the HKDSE result slip after the release of HKDSE results to verify if the results fulfill the entry requirements.

 
10. Q: Can I apply for scholarships? 
 
  A:
HKCT offers various scholarship schemes for students such as Scholarship for Outstanding Academic Achievement, Scholarship for Excellent Academic Achievement, Scholarship for Excellent Public Examination Results and HKCT Excellence Award. Applicants are required to complete the respective application forms of "HKCT Scholarship Scheme for Full-Time Post-Secondary Students 2014-2015" and "HKCT Excellence Award 2014-2015" and bring along with documents to Homantin Campus and HKCT Jockey Club Ma On Shan Campus. Although I have registered in U-Choice Online Enrollment System and received password via e-mail, why do I fail to assess to the system?

2. Q: After submitting my application via U-Choice online enrolment system or by mail, I have not received the e-mail from HKCT.
 
  A:
Reasons: 1) The e-mail from HKCT was classified as junk mails.
      2) Problem of e-mail account or internet connection

  A:
You may fail to receive your login password of U-Choice account due to the problem of your e-mail account or the internet connection of your e-mail services providers.
Solution:
1) You can assess the U-Choice account to obtain your login password again.

4. Q:
Can I correct your personal information in the U-Choice Enrolment System?
 
  A:
After logging in the U-Choice enrolment system, you can

5. Q:
How can I enquire if my account being activated and my application status?
 
  A:
You should check the mailbox and junk mailbox in your registered e-mail to confirm if you receive the e-mail from HKCT.
