    The BA (Hons) Event Management is a vocationally orientated programme designed for aspiring managers in the events industry by covering professional and specialised knowledge in the events industry. It is devoted to develop both personal and professional skills and abilities of students whilst the study of event operations develops a range of practical skills essential for the industry. Students are required to deliver an event which links the practical with the academic and helps to link the issues of the industry to the study of people management and financial management. The programme also provides a strong management orientation through a study of marketing issues alongside the idea of success as an operational management issue and it is founded on the critical and analytic study of the events industry and the needs for strategic approaches. Students will learn how to meet the challenges of organizing meetings, incentives, and events, as well as developing their own 'live' events.

  • Entry Requirements

    Year 3:

    Direct entry to Year 3 is possible for holders of HKCT Higher Diploma Tourism Management (Event Management).

    Holders of other Higher Diplomas, Associate Degrees and Professional Diplomas in tourism or hospitality or related discipline will be considered on a case-by-case basis in liaison with the University.

    English Proficiency Requirements

    • Holders of Higher Diploma or Associate Degree or Professional Diploma equivalent delivered in English in Hong Kong by institutions recognised by UCLan are considered as meeting the English proficiency requirement; OR
    • IELTS 6.0 with no score below 5.5; OR
    • Equivalent qualifications.

    Non-standard applications are considered on an individual basis and applicants may be interviewed.

  • Tuition Fees

    Year 3 / Top-Up: HK$ 57,750

    Administration Fee: HK$1,500 (Upon 1st installment)

    Students are eligible to apply for the Government Financial Assistance Scheme: Extended Non-Means-Tested-Loan (ENLS)

     

    Early Bird Discount

    • Application should be submitted on or before 31 July (for Sep intake)
    • The Early Bird Discount $2,000 will be made in the last installment of tuition fee payment

     

    HKCT Alumni Fee Reduction

    • HKCT former student who has completed a one year programme or above is eligible
    • 5% of total tuition fee reduction (max $1,000) will be made in the last installment of tuition fee payment

  • Graduation Path

    Graduates of the course are pursuing careers throughout the hospitality and events industry. Many are working for large international organisations whilst a significant number have chosen to work more locally in the UK hospitality and events industry. The transferable skills gained on the degree mean that many graduates also go on to careers as project managers and logistics managers. The continued growth of this sector will guarantee a wealth of opportunities over the coming years.
