HKCT Jockey Club Service Learning in celebrating the HKCT 60th Birthday, we hope to use Health Lane as a mean to build a closer relation with Yiu On residents. One of the major programme is to design and construct a Health Lane to encourage local residents to exercise 30 minutes or more daily. This programme aims to promote healthy living style and community care.

Invitation to Conference on VPET and Service-Learning Model

“Serving the Community with Professionalism – Rekindling the Passion of Learning among Learners”

HKCT Jockey Club Service Learning Project is funded by Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust to explore and establish for the long term an effective, pioneering model of practice based student learning and institution-community integration to enhance students VPET journey. Coming to the third year of the project, Conference on VPET and Service-Learning Model : “Serving the Community with Professionalism – Rekindling the Passion of Learning among Learners” will be organized to introduce our VPET and Service-Learning Model and share the experience on implementation as well as the outcomes on enhancing the learning motivation of the academically challenged students.

Our VPET and Service-Learning model confirms that  there are promising effects in enhancing learning in addition to knowledge acquirement, including fostering motivation to learn – the essential learning elements that the academically challenged students are in need of.  With the participation and guidance of professional industries, students need to practice and deliver services corresponding to professional standard. It helps them to re-examine their career development and therefore proactively acquire the related knowledge for their career goal achievement. We can work corporately to explore key factors for effectively facilitating learning orientation - including motivation for learning and a mindset that values learning – among the academically challenged students by service-learning

We honourably invite Professor Anthony CHEUNG Bing-leung, GBS, JP, Chairman of Task Force on Review of Self-financing Post-secondary Education to deliver opening keynote. Moreover, our keynote speaker Dr. Carol MA, Senior Fellow (Office of Service-Learning) & Senior Lecturer (Common Curriculum) of Singapore University of Social Sciences, will share her insights and related information about the success factors of service-learning in Asia.
