Introduction
This course provides students with knowledge of operating the Airport Passenger Terminal and related regulations through site visiting to the Hong Kong International Airport and simulation workshop.

Programme Contents

The programme focuses on the passenger terminal at the airport and revolves around the services, people and management of the terminal. Students will learn about the development and basic operation of the passenger terminal, and will have the opportunity to conduct a comprehensive site visit to the passenger terminal facilities at the Hong Kong International Airport.

If students attained “Attained with Distinction (I)” in this ApL course^, it is comparable to Level 3 of the Category A subjects of HKDSE examination; if they attained “Attained with Distinction (II)”, it is comparable to Level 4 of the Category A subjects of HKDSE examination.

Programme Features

  • Hong Kong International Airport site-visit, workshop with industry standard, e.g. systems of passenger terminal, operational system and principles of control, information system, baggage carousel, automated people mover
  • Experiential learning through site visits to the Hong Kong International Airport and workshops on simulated sites, such as the Passenger Terminal Building, Airport Control Area, operational systems and control principles, messaging systems, baggage handling floors, unmanned trains, etc
  • Students will plan a series of cultural festivals and events through the final project. It can deepen their understanding of the airport passenger terminal operations

Positions at entry level: passenger terminal operations officer, ground service officer, ticket service officer, flight operations officer, air service officer, air cargo officer. Student can apply for the position of Student Air Traffic Control Officer (SATCO) at Civil Aviation Department, etc.

Career Pathway: ground service manager, customer service manager, air service manager, system operations supervisor, flight area operations supervisor, project manager, private aircraft rental manager, air traffic control officer, etc.

Lessons will mainly be held at students' own schools. Details will be confirmed between HKCT and their schools.
