  • Contents

    ApL(C) is designed from the perspective of second language learners. It provides simulated applied learning contexts of hospitality to enhance students' learning motivation and build their foundation for using Chinese in the workplace. ApL(C) – Practical Chinese in Hospitality consists of ApL(C)I, ApL(C)II and ApL(C)III, in which students can benefit from learning by levels. 

     

  • Course Feature

    The course incorporates student-centred learning activities to master the basic knowledge of Chinese as a second language. Students learn Chinese through simulated applied learning contexts of hospitality and different modes of activities (e.g. direct teaching, theme-based group discussion, role play, visit, guest talk).

    Students can start their careers at entry level in the hospitality industry, such as Hotel Receptionist, Desk Clerk, Clubhouse Officer, Housekeeper, Hotel Porter, Restaurant Attendant, Airport Customer Service Officer and Event Assistant. After accumulating further operational experiences, they can be promoted to supervisory or middle management, such as Restaurant Manager, Assistant Front Office Manager, Customer Service Manager, Clubhouse Manager and Event Manager.
