  • Contents

    The programme includes the study of quality management system, project management skills in application to the design and construction of buildings, the study of health and safety management in application to the construction process. The programme comprises three basic components:

    • Technology of construction
    • Management and organisation of resources
    • Legal framework set by society relating to contract, safety and environment

    Students have to complete five taught modules and a dissertation in four semesters, the minimum length of study is 15 months.

     

  • Entry Requirements

    • Applicants should be holders of Higher Diploma in Building Technology awarded by HKCT with relevant industrial experience; or
    • Applicants should be holders of Higher Diploma / Associate Degree / Higher Certificate in Building studies / Facilities Management / Estate Management / Surveying or related discipline from local recognised institutions, with relevant industrial experience.
    • The teaching media of the above mentioned post-secondary qualification should be in English or applicants should possess English proficiency level up to IELTS 6 or TOEFL 550 or equivalent or a pass in HKCT English Test or equivalent.
    • Applicants who do not satisfy the entry requirement of the above may be admitted at the discretion of the University.
  • Tuition Fees

    • HK$72,000 in four instalments
    • Administration Fee: HK$1,500 (Upon 1st instalment)

    ^ All tuition fees are subject to annual review and change without prior notice.

  • Tuition Fees Assistance

    Early Bird Discount (for Sep intake)

    • Application should be submitted on or before 31 July 2019.
    • The Early Bird Discount $2,000 will be made in the last instalment of tuition fee payment.

    HKCT Alumni Fee Reduction

    • HKCT former student who has completed a one year programme or above is eligible.
    • 5% of total tuition fee reduction (max $1,000) will be made in the last instalment of tuition fee payment.
  • Course Structure

    Students have to complete 5 taught modules and a dissertation in 4 semesters, the minimum length of study is 15 months. Each taught module consists of 36 face-to-face contact hours, including lectures and tutorials.

    • Project Analysis and Appraisal

    Semester Two

    • Performance Studies
    • Health and Safety Management
    • Dissertation (Part I)

    Semester Three

    • Construction Law
    • Dissertation (Part II)

    Semester Four

    • Dissertation (supported by two supplementary modules including "Communication & Research Methods" and "Information Technology Skills")

     

    Assessment Coursework (50%) and Examination (50%) or Coursework (100%)

    Dissertation Interim Report, Presentation and Final Report (100%)

  • Professional Qualification

    • This programme is accredited by Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), graduates who fulfil specified education and professional development requirements are eligible to apply for Membership of RICS.
    • This programme is accredited by Chartered Institute of Building, UK (CIOB). Graduates who fulfil specified education and professional development requirements are eligible to apply for Membership of CIOB.
    • This programme is accredited by Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE), graduates who fulfil specified education and professional development requirements are eligible to apply for Membership of CABE.
    • The programme is accredited by the Hong Kong Institution of Incorporated Engineers (HKIIE). Graduates who fulfil specified education and professional development requirements are eligible for applying for Membership of HKIIE.
    • This programme is accredited by Hong Kong Institute of Construction Managers (HKICM), graduates who fulfill specified education and professional development requirements are eligible to apply for Membership of HKICM.
