  • Contents

    The BSc (Hons) Building Surveying programme is conferred by the Leeds Beckett University, UK. This course provides the skills that need in crucial areas of design, law, management and technology to become a building surveyor. It will enable you to look at a building and see its potential, create plans and consider practical aspects of its use and sustainability.

     

  • Entry Requirements

    • Applicants should be holders of Higher Diploma in Building Technology awarded by HKCT with relevant industrial experience; or
    • Holders of Higher Diploma/Higher Certificate in Building Surveying, Surveying or related discipline with relevant industrial experience.
    • Applicants should possess English proficiency level up to IELTS 6 or a pass in HKCT English Test or English as a medium of instruction in previous postsecondary study or HKDSE English: Level 3 at Category A English language or equivalent.
    • Applicants who do not satisfy the above entry requirements may be admitted at the discretion of the University through an interview and assessment by a committee.
  • Tuition Fees

    • HK$72,000 in four instalments
    • Administration Fee: HK$1,500 (Upon 1st instalment)

    Early Bird Discount (for Sep intake)

    • Application should be submitted on or before 31 July 2019.
    • The Early Bird Discount $2,000 will be made in the last instalment of tuition fee payment.

    HKCT Alumni Fee Reduction

    • HKCT former student who has completed a one year programme or above is eligible.
    • 5% of total tuition fee reduction (max $1,000) will be made in the last instalment of tuition fee payment.
  • Course Structure

    Students have to complete 6 taught modules and a dissertation, the minimum length of study is 15 months. Students must complete "Construction Contracts" & "Interdisciplinary Project" before admission to other modules.

    • Design Detail, Human Factors and Fire (BIM)
    • Experiential Learning

    Semester Three

    • Facilities Maintenance and Management
    • Dissertation (Part I)

    Semester Four

    • Conservation , Adaptation and Refurbishment of Buildings
    • Dissertation (Part II)

    Assessment

    • Taught modules:
      Examination, Coursework, Presentation (as per the requirement of each module)
    • Dissertation:
      Interim Report, Presentation and Final Report (100%)

    Mode of Delivery

    • Each taught module consists of face-to-face lectures and tutorials. All classes are scheduled on weekday evenings, Saturdays and/or Sundays.

    +Course content is subject to review and changes without prior notice.

  • Professional Qualification

    • This programme is accredited by Chartered Association of Building Engineers (CABE) and Hong Kong Institute of Certified Property Managers (HKCPM). Graduates who fulfil the specified education with adequate working experience requirements are eligible to apply for membership of CABE and HKCPM.
    • The programme will also week for accreditation from Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
