HKCT School of Vocational Training (SVT) has provided the Manpower Development Scheme (formerly named Retraining Programmes) since 1992. SVT is among the first batch of non-subsidized institutions approved by the government to conduct re-training programmes under the Employees Retraining Board. SVT provides training courses to accommodate to the needs of the unemployed, non-engaged youth and other people and contribute to the local labour market over the past 20 years. SVT have trained more than 250,000 trainees since its establishment.

 

The retraining programme provided by SVT cover 200 categories in 20 disciplines which aims to equip trainees with skills and enhance their work competency to re-enter the labor market. Free career counseling services are provided to equip trainees for employments. Its Employment Services Unit maintains close connections with different business sector to help employers to match appropriate trainees for their job vacancies.

 

With SVT’s commitment in Retraining programmes, SVT is widely recognized by Employee Retraining Board, employers and trainees. SVT has also obtained various awards from Employer Retraining Boards with recognition of SVT the achievement in programme development including“ERB Outstanding Awards for Quality Services”,“ERB Outstanding Award for Placement Services”, “ERB Outstanding Award for Promotion and Marketing” and “ERB Outstanding Award for Course Development” for five consecutive years.  

 

SVT keeps abreast with the latest market trends to develop more programmes customized to societal needs.
