Programme Contents

This programme focuses on providing students with safety, technological and operational knowledge of the modern railway industry. Students will be introduced the roles, responsibilities, skill sets and qualifications required for various positions of the industry. The programme also enhances students’ awareness on the demand and development of local and overseas railway systems in the future.

If students attained “Attained with Distinction (I)” in this ApL course^, it is comparable to Level 3 of the Category A subjects of HKDSE examination; if they attained “Attained with Distinction (II)”, it is comparable to Level 4 of the Category A subjects of HKDSE examination.

Programme Features

  • Visit MTR Academy, on-site visit the railway facilities and the actual working environment, e.g. MTR Depot, MTR Station, Operation Control Center, Operation Training Center 
  • Train driving simulation, learn the daily routine of train captains
  • Instructor team includes both the current and retired staff, providing the basic knowledge and up-to-date technique
  • Role-playing and simulation facilities will be adopted in the classroom so that students can learn practical problem solving
  • Produce a preliminary design of a new metro line with appropriate technologies in a given city, experience the planning of the railway network firsthand

  • Produce the most suitable teaching materials for Hong Kong students, provide professional advice for Railway Studies' development
  • The tutors of Railway Studies are experienced professionals working in Railway Industry, including Engineers from different aspects, Shift Station Master, Trainer of Train Captain and etc.
  • Tutors of MTR Academy will share their related working experiences to the students and provide related information of further study and career development
