Industry Collaboration Projects

As a vocational and professional education institution, we focus on cultivating students with practical application skills, professional knowledge, and proper values and attitudes to adapt to the evolving needs of the market. By working closely with our industry partners—including businesses, academic institutions, trade associations, and community organisations—we jointly provide excellent learning experiences for our students, the community, and the institution itself. These experiences span diverse fields, including national education, innovation and technology, sports, early childhood education, hospitality, catering, and the cultural and creative arts.

Industry Partnerships Foster Student Growth

Our industry partners enable students to experience real-world working environments, participate in project-based learning and internships, and thereby master the professional skills required by the industry. Throughout these experiences, students accumulate practical, hands-on skills and enhance their problem-solving and teamwork abilities, building a solid foundation for future employment or further studies. Additionally, students can participate in competitions or training programmes organised with our industry partners. Winners may obtain professional qualifications or receive job recommendations, further enhancing their competitiveness in the job market and broadening their career options.

The Contribution of Industry Collaboration to Society

These industry collaboration projects promote the integration of industry and education, cultivating a new generation of talent for society equipped with practical skills and an innovative mindset, which helps to improve the quality of talent across various industries. Furthermore, professional qualifications and industry experience can enhance public awareness and understanding of specific sectors (such as cybersecurity, hospitality, and sports), driving the professionalisation of these industries and increasing the overall competitiveness of society. These collaborations also create a positive environment for exchange, encouraging broader societal involvement in youth training, talent development, and future planning. Ultimately, this leads to a win-win situation for both education and industry.

The collaboration between HKCT and Wai Yin Association (Wai Yin) began in 2011 with the collaborative project, the "Wai Yin Tree Planting Charity Event." HKCT students were invited to provide reception services and assist guests with tree planting. The professionalism and sincerity of the students left a deep impression on Wai Yin. Since then, HKCT students have been invited annually to serve as event assistants at the Wai Yin Association Charity Ball. Their responsibilities include guest reception, stage ushering, acting as escorts, displaying auction items, selling charity tickets alongside Miss Hong Kong, and distributing prizes and photos before and after the event. These experiences enable students to gain invaluable project management experience and practical knowledge in hospitality services.

At the annual gala, students interact with prominent individuals from diverse sectors and backgrounds, broadening their perspectives and learning social etiquette. They gain teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability skills through their roles, thanks to the trusted partnership between Wai Yin and HKCT.
