Broadening Global Horizons and Building Bridges through Language and Culture
HKCT Institute of Higher Education Establishes Academic Partnership with Yonsei University MIRAE Campus

As economic and cultural exchanges across Asia continue to grow, the internationalisation of education has become increasingly important in nurturing a new generation of talent. On 20 March 2026, HKCT Institute of Higher Education (“HKCT”) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Yonsei University MIRAE Campus in Korea, establishing a long-term academic partnership.

The partnership marks an important step forward for both institutions in advancing language education, broadening students’ global horizons and deepening cross-cultural exchange. Through the collaboration, the two institutions aim to nurture professionals equipped with multilingual capabilities and the competencies needed to communicate effectively across cultures and borders.

Integrating Language Education with International Resources to Support Holistic Development

Yonsei University MIRAE Campus has a well-established system for language education and research, with extensive experience in international education and cross-cultural exchange. HKCT, meanwhile, is committed to developing students’ multilingual capabilities and cross-cultural competencies.

By bringing together their respective strengths, the two institutions will establish a sustainable framework for long-term collaboration and incorporate international resources and language education into curriculum development. The partnership will not only strengthen language learning and cultural understanding, but also enhance students’ communication skills and professional competencies, responding to the practical skills required by industries and the international workplace.

Through two-way exchanges and interaction, students will have opportunities to broaden their global perspectives, strengthen their ability to adapt to different cultural environments, and pursue holistic development in a diverse and inclusive learning environment. The partnership will help nurture well-rounded professionals equipped to meet the evolving needs of society and the employment market.

Promoting Two-Way Exchange and Aligning Curricula with International Education Trends

To ensure that its teaching and learning remain closely aligned with the evolving needs of international talent development, HKCT and Yonsei University MIRAE Campus will establish a two-way exchange mechanism. Teaching and research teams from Yonsei University MIRAE Campus will engage in in-depth exchanges with HKCT students and staff on areas such as language education and cross-cultural communication. Meanwhile, HKCT’s curriculum development team will maintain regular dialogue with its counterpart to jointly enhance teaching content and curriculum design.

The collaboration will also cover articulation pathways from Higher Diploma to degree programmes, while expanding opportunities for study visits, research collaboration and academic conferences. Through these initiatives, the two institutions aim to enhance students’ learning outcomes and strengthen their ability to adapt and thrive in cross-cultural environments.

Sharing Cross-Cultural Communication Experiences as Students Explore International Learning Opportunities

Following the signing ceremony, Mr Kim Wei-pyo, Manager of MIRAE Office of International Affairs, and Ms Zhu Yilu, Greater China Recruitment Officer, hosted a sharing session for students of HKCT’s Higher Diploma in Languages and Corporate Communication (Korean).

During the session, the representatives introduced the history and international rankings of Yonsei University, the distinctive features of its campuses, popular programmes offered by the Global Leaders College, as well as how the Korean Language Institute supports international students in advancing their Korean language proficiency.

Students actively engaged with the representatives and raised questions on a wide range of topics, including tuition fees, Korean language proficiency requirements for articulation programmes, and new programmes related to K-pop, film and stage production. The Yonsei University representatives responded to the questions in detail and invited students to visit the University and experience its campus and learning environment first-hand.

Students said the exchange had broadened their international horizons and deepened their understanding of the practical applications of language learning and cross-cultural communication, making the session a highly rewarding learning experience.

Looking Ahead: Building Regional Connections in Language Education and Cross-Cultural Exchange

Looking ahead, HKCT and Yonsei University MIRAE Campus will continue to expand the scope of their collaboration and work together to build a regional network for language education and cross-cultural exchange. The partnership will provide students with a wider range of international learning resources and development opportunities, while nurturing professionals with the cross-cultural competencies needed to meet future challenges.

HKCT will continue to explore diverse models of educational collaboration with international partners, creating more opportunities for exchange and learning and empowering a new generation of talent to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
