As of Results Day, total applications had exceeded 1,000, with notable growth recorded in programmes related to disciplined services and civil service, tourism, hospitality and aviation services, and innovation and technology.
This year’s enrolment trends indicate that students are placing increasing emphasis on professional skills, industry development prospects and future career opportunities when planning their educational pathways. Their choices also closely reflect Hong Kong’s strategic priorities, including promoting the mega-event economy, developing the innovation and technology sector, and continually nurturing talent for public services.
Rising Interest in Public Service Careers Drives Continued Popularity of Disciplined Services Programmes
Among all elective streams, programmes related to the disciplined services and civil service remain among the most popular choices. Preparation for Police Force Training continued to rank as the most sought-after programme, while applications for Preparation Training for Immigration and Customs and Excise Recruitment recorded a year-on-year increase of nearly 15%.
In recent years, the Government has continued to recruit personnel for the disciplined services and public sector, providing young people with clear professional development pathways and advancement opportunities. At the same time, growing public awareness of public safety, national security and professional public services has led many young people to favour career paths that offer both stability and clear progression prospects.
The increase in applications suggests that many students are seeking to equip themselves through structured training at an early stage, with aspirations to pursue careers in policing, disciplined services and related public service sectors, serving both society and the wider community.

Applications for Hospitality and Aviation Services almost doubled compared with last year, making it one of the fastest-growing programmes in the DAE curriculum.
Hong Kong has in recent years actively promoted the mega-event economy through hosting major sporting events, cultural festivals, concerts and international conferences, attracting visitors from around the world while driving the transformation and upgrading of the tourism sector. Innovation and technology-related programmes continued to gain momentum, with Smart Technology Applications and Mobile Apps Design Development recording a 20% increase in enrolment this year.
At the same time, digital media and creative industries have emerged as new areas of interest among students. Programmes such as Creative Photography (Commercial and Advertising), as well as the newly introduced Digital Music Production and Promotion, have become popular choices for students with artistic and creative aspirations.

The Unique Progression Advantages of the Diploma of Applied Education (DAE)
HKCT’s Diploma of Applied Education (DAE) offers nearly 20 career-oriented elective streams, covering disciplines such as disciplined services and civil service, tourism and hospitality, innovation and technology, and creative media. The programmes are particularly suitable for students who have yet to determine their long-term career direction.
Upon graduation, the qualification is recognised as meeting the standard of Level 2 in five HKDSE subjects, including Chinese Language and English Language. Graduates are therefore eligible to apply for civil service positions and enrol in sub-degree programmes, including Higher Diploma and Associate Degree courses offered by tertiary institutions in Hong Kong.
The DAE provides students with a dual pathway combining both further study and career development opportunities. In addition, all eligible graduates are entitled to a reimbursement of at least 30% of their tuition fees, further enhancing the accessibility and value of the programme.
