Progression from Secondary School's 'Tourism and Hospitality Studies'

'Tourism and Hospitality Studies' is an elective subject within the New Senior Secondary (NSS) curriculum. It is designed to give students a thorough understanding of the industry by covering fundamental theories, current trends, and the future development of all sectors within tourism and hospitality.

2. Can I apply for the programme if I did not study "Tourism and Hospitality Studies" in secondary school?

Yes, you can. Our Higher Diploma programmes in Tourism and Hospitality do not have any specific elective subject requirements. We welcome students with no prior experience, as the curriculum is designed to be comprehensive, covering everything from foundational theory to practical skills, helping all students to build a strong base for their future development.

3. Does HKCT provide students with employment opportunities?

The programme includes over 600 hours of industry placement. We have long-standing partnerships with major airlines, prestigious hotels, and leading food and beverage groups. Students who perform exceptionally well during their placements may be offered direct employment by the company, significantly increasing their prospects of securing a job upon graduation.

4. Is the programme subsidised by the government?

The Higher Diploma in Tourism Management (with specialisms in Airline Services, Hotel Management, or Western Culinary Arts) is included under the "Study Subsidy Scheme for Designated Professions/Sectors" (SSSDP). Eligible local students can receive a subsidy of up to HK$23,390 per year, which makes the net tuition fee lower than that of comparable programmes at other institutions.
